In the year ending June 30, 2012, EU cheap sexy clothes imports fell in value by 1.8%, although they were still at their second highest level on record. In volume terms, however, imports were at their lowest level since 2005.

At the same time, the average import price rose by 7.3% to its highest level since 2002, due largely to a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials, particularly the cost of raw cotton. Imports were up in value from five of the top ten supplying countries. But in volume terms imports were up from only one country, namely Vietnam.
